MUSIC, SONGS AND DANCE
Focusing Points

-Does music provide any physical or spiritual benefit to human being?
-Does music motivate the human being?
-Is it idle talk and work of Devil?
-Is it just amusement or something worthwhile?

Quranic Ayahs
Popular English translation have been produced line by line so that reader could infer the true essence of Ayah.

Al-Isra, Chapter #17, Verse #64
Permission to devil granted to mislead believers by his tricks.
Yusuf Ali 64: "Lead to destruction those whom thou canst among them, with thy (seductive) voice; make assaults on them with thy cavalry and thy infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them." But Satan promises them nothing but deceit.

Shakir 64: And beguile whomsoever of them you can with your voice, and collect against them your forces riding and on foot, and share with them in wealth and children, and hold out promises to them; and the Shaitan makes not promises to them but to deceive:

Pickthal 64: And excite any of them whom thou canst with thy voice, and urge thy horse and foot against them, and be a partner in their wealth and children, and promise them. Satan promiseth them only to deceive.

M. Khan 64: "And Istafziz (literally means: befool them gradually) those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allahs disobedience), make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry, mutually share with them wealth and children (by tempting them to earn money by illegal ways usury, etc., or by committing illegal sexual intercourse, etc.), and make promises to them." But Satan

Yusuf Ali 57-62: The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh. No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. Do ye then wonder at this recital? And will ye laugh and not weep,- Wasting your time in vanities? But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)!

Shakir 57-62: The near event draws nigh. There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. Do you then wonder at this announcement? And will you laugh and not weep? While you are indulging in varieties. So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him).

Pickthal 57-62: The threatened Hour is nigh. None beside Allah can disclose it. Marvel ye then at this statement, And laugh and not weep, While ye amuse yourselves? Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him.

M. Khan 57-62: The Day of Resurrection draws near, None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? And you laugh at it and weep not, Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). So fall you down in prostration to Allah, and worship Him (Alone).

Luqman, Chapter #31, Verse #6
Addressing to people who purchase idle talks to mislead others.
Yusuf Ali 6: But there are, among men, those who purchase idle tales, without knowledge (or meaning), to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah and throw ridicule (on the Path): for such there will be a Humiliating Penalty.

Shakir 6: And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah's path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement.

Pickthal 6: And of mankind is he who payeth for mere pastime of discourse, that he may mislead from Allah's way without knowledge, and maketh it the butt of mockery. For such there is a shameful doom.

M. Khan 6: And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e.music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire).

Pickthal 72: And those who will not witness vanity, but when they pass near senseless play, pass by with dignity.

M. Khan 72: And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.

Al-Araf, Chapter #7, Verse #51
Life is not just a play and amusement.
Yusuf Ali 51: "Such as took their religion to be mere amusement and play, and were deceived by the life of the world." That day shall We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this day of theirs, and as they were wont to reject Our signs.

Shakir 51: Who take their religion for an idle sport and a play and this life's world deceives them; so today We forsake them, as they neglected the meeting of this day of theirs and as they denied Our communications.

Pickthal 51: Who took their religion for a sport and pastime, and whom the life of the world beguiled. So this day We have forgotten them even as they forgot the meeting of this their Day and as they used to deny Our tokens.

M. Khan 51: "Who took their religion as an amusement and play, and the life of the world deceived them." So this Day We shall forget them as they forgot their meeting of this Day, and as they used to reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).

HADITH
(Book #69, Hadith #494v)

Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: that he heard the Prophet saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection."

Pervasive Effects of Music and Dance

1. It put the youngsters into fanaticism. It forces youngster to romantic dream world which is a cancer to practical life.

2. Romantic music and song put the human body and mind into trance. Such song makes the human body to feel the past if there have been such events. And if there are not such events, it inspires the human to have the experience of those events in real. So it’s useless to be in trance and again it’s a hurdle to practical life.

3. Sad songs recall the sad memories of human being which is useless. If the intensity of feeling is very high, then one remains sad for coming few days. Such sadness leads to artificial disappointment and tension and hence affects healthy present practical life.

4. Fast song inspires us and cheers up our mood. Its helps to recall the good memories of the past. But it’s not advisable to be with memories. We should be more concerned about the present and future rather than past. Further some rock music drives human behave hilariously (i.e. unethical movements and dance) unconsciously which provokes the feelings of opposite genders hence increase the susceptibility of human being to adultery and fornication.

5. Scientific effects of the sounds produced by the instruments are yet to be discovered by the scientists. We are aware of the fact that sound produces certain frequencies that travels through some medium. When these frequencies strike our ears drum it make us hears the sound. These frequencies strike other natural bodies and human bodies as well. It is commonly observed that certain beat of drum can break a glass. It’s all about wavelength of sound frequency. Scientists are yet to discover, how the sounds of particular instrument effects the mind and body of human. Because I am not a scientist, I can not put more light on this aspect.

One who says that grass is very tasty and delicious; it does not mean that grass is really tasty. But in fact he don’t have taste buds for fruits or he never had tasted the fruits yet.

Similarly, if someone says that music is nutrition for soul and spirituality, it does not mean that it is true. The fact is, he has not yet recited The Holy Quran with devotion and concentration.

And wht if they do the treatment with the holy verses of Quran ?

The reason for "stress" is revealed by Allah in the Quran:

"But if anyone turns away from my reminder, his life will be a dark and narrow one…" (Quran, 20:124)

In another verse, Allah has revealed that "… the earth became narrow for them, for all its great breadth and their own selves became constricted for them and they realized that there was no refuge from Allah except in Him…" (Quran, 9:118)

Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, we will give them a good life and we will recompense them according to the best of what they did. (Quran, 16:97)

So the HOLY QURAN is the best tablet for all of our Tensions and Depressions.

Let’s make addict ourselves of this tablet to avoid all mental and psychological depressions.

Waqas Akram.

Everything is in front of us, wejust need to think. :)

Plz don't bring Kumar Sanu's statement against Quran and Hadith :) Can u think that Quran and Hadith are wrong and Kumar Sanu's statement has worth more than those? I think u can't ....

I don't want to start this debate again :) If u really want to know how Islam declares Music as HARAAM .... please read the discussion on the following link:

For ur kind information as i stated above also that i just shared it with the members what i saw and i m not brining anything agianst Islam or Quran (naouzubillah) .Alhamdulillah being a muslim i also know the manners and have respect for my religion.I knew it before also that music is haram in our religion and i never said or think anything like this that Kumar sanu's words have more worth than Quran (naozubillah) .Ofcourse there is no point in debating over this topic as we all are very well aware of our religion. Hope u better understand now what i said before.
